The relationship between the instrument and the environment is the central theme of Flute. My role encompassed both the capturing of reality through location recording and the interpretation of emotion through original scoring. This dual perspective allowed for a seamless integration of diegetic sound and musical narrative.

"The breath of the flute becomes the breath of the film, blurring the line between the character's internal state and the external world."

On location, the priority was to capture the acoustic characteristics of the spaces—hollow, resonant, and intimate. Using a combination of boom and planted microphones, I focused on the subtleties of the actor's breathing and the mechanical noise of the instrument itself, grounding the performance in reality.

In the scoring phase, I utilized these organic recordings as the foundation for the musical composition. By processing the raw flute samples through granular synthesis and spectral delays, I created a haunting, atmospheric score that echoes the protagonist's psychological journey, creating a dialogue between the seen and the unseen.
