Drifting Light explores the symbiotic relationship between auditory and visual rhythms. As a solo project encompassing composition, directing, and editing, it represents a complete unity of vision. The project began not with a script, but with a sonic texture—a drifting, melancholic synth pad that dictated the visual pacing.
The core philosophy behind the production was synesthesia. Every camera movement was choreographed to match the envelope of the synthesizer sounds. Sharp cuts align with transient percussion, while long, dissolving transitions mirror the decay of reverb tails.
In the color grading process, I treated light as another instrument in the arrangement. The shifting hues from cool blues to warm ambers were mapped to the chord progression changes, creating a visual harmony that reinforces the emotional arc of the music.
